The Columbus Zoo

Posted to Greg Giessler

Yesterday I had the opportunity to preview a home in Dublin, Ohio on the Championship course of Muirfield Village Golf Club. What I realized I like most about the real estate profession is the ability to meet new people.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet Dotty, Dotty (with a y not an I!) She is a docent for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Dotty has spent over twenty five years with the Columbus Zoo. She is very energetic and enthusiastic about the Zoo, Jack Hanna, and the organization within the zoo called Partners for Conservation. Jack Hanna was the Executive Director for the Columbus Zoo for fourteen years and now is the Director Emeritus. You may have seen him on Shows like Ellen Degeneres, Anderson Cooper 360, Entertainment Tonight, and the David Letterman Show to name a few. Jack Hanna with the help of many others in the community has made the Columbus Zoo one of the premier entertainment, educational, and conservation establishments in the world.

Partners in Conservation was started in attempts to reach out and help assist in conservation efforts in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project helps in educating the local people about wildlife and raise money for conservation and humanitarian efforts.

I am always amazed about what you can learn, especially when you do not expect it. I went to the listing appointment and left with a new wealth of knowledge. Many people have a positive impact in this world and it is extremely gratifying to know that there is a group of those people right here in Columbus, Ohio!

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has been in the process of major renovations and expansion. If you have the opportunity look at their website at you can view links to their new water park named Zoombezi Bay and the golf course named Safari Golf.

If you are interested in learning more about the Partners in Conservation, click on the conservation tab through the Columbus Zoo’s website.
